  1. HUMPHREY THE HUMAN TRASH CAN WANTS YOUR DISCARDED SOFTWARE!

  3. Simply install Humphrey in your System using ResEdit (directions below
  4. if you need them) and he will happily digest all the files you wish
  5. to feed him.

  7. Humphrey is ImaginationWare.  If you decide to keep Humphrey,
  8. simply imagine that you sent me some money for him.

  13. INSTALLATION DIRECTIONS

  15. These directions assume some familiarity with ResEdit.  If you don't
  16. understand them, you probably shouldn't be mucking around in your
  17. System with ResEdit.
  18.  
  19. 1. After starting ResEdit, open Humphrey (double click on Humphrey, or 
  20.    single click and use the 'open' command).  Humphrey consists of
  21.    one 'ICN#' resource.  Open the ICN# resouce to behold the Humphrey
  22.    ICN#s.

  24. 2. Open the Finder in the System Folder.  Then open the 'ICN#' resource.

  26. 3. Select (by single clicking) the 'empty' Trash and then cut it
  27.    using the 'cut' command. Do the same with the 'full' can ICN#.

  29. 4. After moving back to the Humphrey file, select one Humphrey ICN#,
  30.    and copy using the menu copy command.
  31.  
  32. 5. Move back to the Finder ICN# file and paste Humphrey into it.

  34. 6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 with the other Humphrey ICN#.

  36. 7. Humphrey is now installed!  To display his name, open the STR# 128
  37.    resource in the Finder, scroll down to the 'Trash' string and
  38.    change it to 'Humphrey' (or whatever).  Then close all files,
  39.    saving the changes when requested, and quit ResEdit.

  41. 8. If you're not sure about all of this, use a backup System to
  42.    practice on.
